The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card vs. The Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card

One of the first cards I ever opened when I started earning points and miles was the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card! I was running an online women’s clothing boutique and would put all of my expenses on this card until at one point I used the purchase eraser feature and all of my points to help cover the cost of our VRBO beach house rental in San Clemente, California. I thought that was the most amazing thing ever…and it was!

That was several years ago and since then, I’ve learned a LOT more about how much I love both of these cards and the points they earn. We have used these points to cover the cost of Disney tickets, rental cars, Airbnbs and even transferred the points to Wyndham so I could book a 3 night Vacasa stay in a condo in Hawaii for our family of 6!

Capital One points are flexible, good for beginners or advanced points and miles lovers and can be used for so many different things! The options are endless and with the 18 transfer partners Capital One has, you have lots of options.

Lets take a quick look at how these 2 cards compare. The biggest difference between the Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card and the Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card is the annual fee. The Capital One Venture Rewards Credit Card has an annual fee of $95 and the Capital One Venture X Rewards Card has an annual fee of $395—but also, this card comes with a yearly $300 travel credit that can be used in the Capital One Travel portal. Both cards come with a TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry credit every 4 years and they both earn 2x the points on every purchase. I think it comes down to whether or not you’ll use the $300 travel credit each year and if you want lounge access. If you want lounge access, then you’ll definitely want the Capital One Venture X Rewards Card as it gives you access to over 1,400 lounges around the world.

So which card could be best for you? The truth is, they are both excellent! Start with what you find most value in and decide if you want lounge access then go from there!
